Frequently asked questions
Do RBTs need to be credentialed?
Technicians are generally not credentialed individually but must be rostered with payers under their supervising BCBA, with current RBT certification on file. Roster maintenance is a continuous task.
How long does ABA credentialing take?
Agency and BCBA credentialing with commercial behavioral networks takes 90 to 150 days. Medicaid varies by state, and Tricare's autism program adds its own enrollment step.
Can an independent BCBA get credentialed without an agency?
Yes, with most payers, as a solo provider. Technician services still require a roster and supervision documentation if the BCBA employs technicians.
