Aetna credentials through a network interest request, then pulls your data from CAQH. We submit the request, make sure Aetna is authorized on your CAQH profile, and follow the file through committee to a signed participation agreement.

Aetna, now part of CVS Health, is one of the four national commercial carriers and a large Medicare Advantage plan. Its credentialing process starts with a request to join the network, and Aetna will only proceed if it has a need for your specialty in your area. That means the request itself has to be made carefully, with the right specialty, location and group affiliation.
ClainetRCM prepares the network request, confirms your CAQH ProView profile is complete and attested with Aetna authorized, and then works the application through Aetna's credentialing committee and contracting team.
Where this usually goes wrong
Request denied for network adequacy
Aetna can decline a request if it believes it already has enough providers in your specialty and area. A well-prepared request with the correct location and specialty details is the first line of defense.
CAQH not authorized
If Aetna is not authorized to view your CAQH profile, or the profile is expired, the request stalls without a clear error message.
Group versus individual confusion
Providers joining an existing Aetna-contracted group need to be linked to that agreement, not credentialed as a new solo contract.

Questions about Aetna
How long does Aetna credentialing take?
Once Aetna accepts the network request, credentialing and contracting usually complete in 90 to 120 days. Delays come from incomplete CAQH profiles and missed follow-up, both of which we manage.
Does Aetna use CAQH?
Yes. Aetna pulls credentialing data from CAQH ProView, so your profile must be complete, attested within the last 120 days and have Aetna listed as an authorized plan. Our CAQH profile management page explains what a clean profile looks like.
What if Aetna says the network is closed?
A network adequacy denial can sometimes be reconsidered with a letter demonstrating patient demand, a unique service or a referral relationship. We prepare that reconsideration when the facts support it, and we tell you honestly when they do not.
