CAQH Credentialing and ProView Profile Management

Nearly every commercial payer pulls your credentialing data from CAQH ProView. If the profile is incomplete, unattested or missing a payer authorization, every application built on it stalls. We build the profile, keep it attested and keep the payers authorized.

About 4 minute read. Reviewed September 2026 by the ClainetRCM credentialing team.

Want us to run it?

Send your roster and target payers; we map the gaps at no cost.

CAQH ProView is the shared database that Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, most Blue plans and hundreds of regional payers use to retrieve provider credentialing information. Instead of sending each payer a separate application packet, you maintain one profile and authorize each payer to read it.

The catch is that the profile has to be complete, every document current, and the attestation renewed roughly every 120 days. ClainetRCM creates or recovers the profile, loads every section correctly, uploads the supporting documents, and manages attestation and authorizations on an ongoing basis.

Where this usually goes wrong

Expired attestation

When the attestation lapses, payers see the profile as incomplete and stop processing. Nobody is notified; applications simply sit.

Missing or expired documents

Malpractice face sheets, DEA certificates and licenses expire on their own cycles. An expired document in CAQH is treated as no document at all.

Payer not authorized

A payer can only pull data if it is authorized on the profile or global authorization is on. A missing authorization is the most common reason an application shows no progress.

What ClainetRCM handles

One coordinator owns the file from intake to effective date, so you always know who to call and what is outstanding.

  • CAQH ProView registration or account recovery, including CAQH ID retrieval
  • Complete data entry for every section: education, training, work history, locations, malpractice and disclosures
  • Document upload and expiration tracking for licenses, DEA, board certificates and insurance
  • Payer authorization configured for every plan you are applying to
  • Re-attestation before every 120-day deadline
  • Ongoing updates when locations, coverage or affiliations change

Education and trainingDegree, internship, residency, fellowship, with dates that leave no unexplained gaps.
Work historyEvery position for the past several years, month and year, with gaps of more than a few months explained.
Practice locationsEach location with Tax ID, group NPI, hours, phone, and whether the provider is accepting new patients. Payers use this for directories.
Malpractice and disclosuresCurrent carrier, limits and history, plus answers to every disclosure question with explanations where required.
DocumentsLicense, DEA, board certificate, malpractice face sheet, CV, W-9, and any state-specific forms.

CAQH is required by most commercial payers but not by Medicare, which uses PECOS. Our credentialing checklist covers the full document set.

How the work runs

The sequence is the same for every payer and provider type; what changes is which documents and portals each step touches.

  1. 1

    Intake and gap review

Licenses, DEA, board certificates, malpractice, work history and NPI details are collected and compared against what each target payer asks for.

  2. 2

    Profile setup

CAQH ProView, PECOS and payer portals are created or cleaned up, attested and linked to the correct Tax ID and locations.

  3. 3

    Application submission

Every enrollment is filed in dependency order, with a tracking record for each payer, date and reference number.

  4. 4

    Follow-up on a fixed cadence

Payers are contacted on a schedule. Requests for more information are answered the same business day.

  5. 5

    Approval, contract and handoff

Effective dates, provider IDs and fee schedules are logged and loaded into your billing system.
